    The need for subs..

    Hi Mitch...

You promised to add subs to B.D conversions for a long time now.
    Still..it did'nt happen..yet.
My work around is to convert B.D to M.K.V to D.V.D..and than to Mpeg.
But this way takes a long time..and a serious loss in quality.
Just to have subs..on the tablet.
Now..instead of working on minor updates.
Is it not time to work on that?
You know..being without subs is not a problem for me..as long as we are talking bout English spoken movies.
But..always but..I have also a large collection of French..Italian..Spanish movies.
I can't convert them without subs.
So..I really think you should do something about it.
After all...it's not rocket science..others can do it very well.
    So..why not you.
    Please..give us subs.
Thank you for reading the novel.
    Jan.

    Hi Jan,

I have been working on subs for Bluray throughout different updates. I might not have mentioned it in the release notes, but that is an organisational issue on my part. I have my development environment open on a daily basis, and make small tweaks and fix issues whenever I run into something, and I don't always write them down.

I just did a test with the Bluray of Captain America (with AnyDVD HD 7.0.0.0 running, which is of course needed for Bluray conversions) with subtitles on and off:

    (with subs enabled)

    cap_america_br_subs_03_without_subs.jpg
    (without subs)

(other spot in the movie with subs)

    Hallo.. makker..

    Thanks for the reply.
    And..yes it looks pretty good..those subs..indeed.
Just to give you some info:
I don't use Any DVD but DVD FAB to convert B.D to MKV.
Resulting file has the subs stream available.
I load it in Catalist and enable it in the settings.
Result is a faillure..when I disable subs the MKV file converts fine..but without subs.
So..you suggest Any DVD HD only is able to do the job?
In that case..I'll give it a shot.
Thank you for your help..as always!
    Jan.

    Moguh Jan,

If you can pm/email me the steps you take to go from BR to MKV, I will try it myself, and see what is causing the issue.

Its not that AnyDVD HD is the only thing that can be used to do the job, but it could be something with DVDfab that is causing the subs to not being read properly.
