Due to some complications a few people were experiencing, I was forced to pull the 4.1 update last week. Since then, I have reverted back to DVD Catalyst 4.0.2.7, and have been working on implementing some of the core features of 4.1, such as the better multi-core support and of course the newly added device profiles for devices such as the Thrive, Transformer and more, many more.
In order to update to 4.1.0.1, simply tap on the cat eyes in DVD Catalyst 4, and it will offer to download the update for you.
Changes:
*Lots of new device profiles. DVD Catalyst 4.1.0.1 includes almost 900 different device profiles, covering just about anything capable of video playback.
*Better multi-core support, resulting in even faster conversions without compromising on quality. On a recent quad-core, you can convert a 2 hour DVD in less than 15 minutes (8x real time).
*Better DVD support. For some of the worst DVDs, changes have been made to make them work without having to change settings, and the scanning process has been reworked to reduce issues with future releases as well.
* Better MKV support. Support for new audio formats as well as better compatibility with newer MKV file creation tools have been implemented, and with the better multi-core support conversion speed of MKV files has been improved considerably as well.
*Limited Bluray support. Please read the guide for more info: DVD Catalyst 4.1 Bluray Guide | DVD Catalyst 4, the ultimate app for movies & tv on the go
*Subtitle font selection for text-based subtitles (SRT, MKV, Closed Captions . Not for DVDs)
Note: while many of the features of 4.1.0.0 have been implemented, due to the major differences between 4.1 and 4.0.2.7, not everything I added in 4.1 has made its way into 4.1.0.1 yet. In addition, the online guide has some minor inconsistencies.
DVD Catalyst 4 Features:
*Converts DVDs and most video files (mkv, avi etc) with a single click. Insert your DVD or add your video file(s), select your device profile and click Go.
* Includes profiles for more devices than anything else available. If your device is not listed, just ask.
*Transparent Batch. Convert from one or multiple DVD drives, or convert 1 or 100 video files, still one click. Just add whatever you want to convert and click Go.
*Basic and Advanced mode. DVD Catalyst runs in basic mode first, with all the tweaks and settings that produce the best results set correctly, so you don't have to, but if you do want total control over your conversions, you can do that too. Simply enable "Power User" and you will have access to just about every aspect of your conversions.
*Just about everything can be automated. I created DVD Catalyst to reduce the amount of clicks needed for a conversion to start. Most tools require you to click through multiple screens, many of them even for individual episodes or files. DVD Catalyst can do all that fully automatic. Start a conversion when you insert a DVD, monitor a recordings/download folder for new files, remove black bars, enable and select subtitles and languages, you can either do it yourself, or have DVD Catalyst do it all for you.
