Hello everyone. I received my Verizon Xoom for Christmas. Local store had them for $200 With purchase of the Droid Razr. Waiting for ICS. How can I tell if it is a US model, 4G/LTE, Wifi, etc? I've only been using for surfing the web. I'm hoping to learn more about the capabilites from the Xoom community.

This little Linux box packs a 1.5GHz ARM CPU and 512MB of RAM.



Chinese retailers have started selling a miniature Linux computer that is housed in a 3.5-inch plastic case slightly larger than a USB thumb drive. Individual units are available online for $74.

The small computer has an AllWinner A10 single-core 1.5GHz ARM CPU, a Mali 400 GPU, and 512MB of RAM. An HDMI port on the exterior allows users to plug the computer into a television. It outputs at 1080p and is said to be capable of playing high-definition video.

The device also has a full-sized USB port with host support for input devices, a conventional micro-USB port, a microSD slot, and an internal 802.11 b/g WiFi antenna. The computer can boot from a microSD card and is capable of running Android 4.0 and other ARM-compatible Linux platforms.

Earlier this year, we reported on the FXI Cotton Candy, a thumb drive computer that can plug directly into the HDMI port on a television. The system, which became available for preorder in February, sells for $199.

The $74 AllWinner system seems like an intriguing, low-cost alternative to the Cotton Candy. Both computers have the same GPU, but the Cotton Candy has a faster dual-core processor and twice as much RAM. Another key difference is that the Cotton Candy has an actual HDMI male plug built in (whereas the AllWinner computer has a socket) and consequently doesn’t require the use of an HDMI cable.

Much like the recently launched $35 Raspberry Pi, these relatively small and inexpensive Linux systems offer enthusiasts a compelling platform for embedded computing projects.

Got my UK XOOM about a month ago for £250 quid from Amazon UK. With help from this site I just installed US ICS from Motodev - so far so good. I'm hooked on Android ever since I got my HTC ChaCha keep on xooming....

ICS arrived on my Canadian Xoom this morning............... Looks great.

Hi there, i have a Motorola Xoom (MZ604 - brazilian) and i got tired of waiting for our official ICS rom so i unlocked it's bootloader and flashed it with a retail USA 3.0 and updated it to ICS 4.0.4... my question is... is there any way to root it now?

I just got my Xoom wifi the other day and I'm loving it. One game I can't seem to get to work is SimCity Deluxe. I've updated to the latest OTA update of Android, 4.0.4 and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game a couple of times (including the extra data). But all I get is the SimCity logo, then an EA button logo, then a black screen.

Is there a trick to getting this working or is it incompatible with ICS?

Ah, I've done some more searching after I posted this and realize that it is indeed incompatible with ICS. Shame, it'd be so much better to play it on a nice big tablet screen instead of my phone. Oh well, maybe they'll update it eventually (probably unlikely) or release a new SimCity game for Android.

Hopefully it comes to my Xoom soon! The first thing I did when I saw the announcement was check for updates, but none are waiting for me yet!

Not a bad turn around, shipped it back to them on Friday, and will have it back today. Shows the same one, just repaired, so we'll see...I got a brand new Xoom out of the exchange! :in love:YIPPEE - so this time, I'm not going to go for a "doorbell to rooted" time. I just received a micro sd card. I have tested it in my laptop and works fine.
I have downloaded Astro File Manager, but every time I click to browse the external SD it says

New Directory
Directory does not exist. Create? [ OK CANCEL ]

I click OK and get and error: Error writing file

I just purchased a xoom wifi
updated it to ICS 4.04
trying to get my xp pro laptop to talk to my xoom so i can move some file across to it.
I copied so images to an Mirco sd card but the xoom dose not see them at all.
When I veiw thw MircoSD card from my laptop or Desktop I see the files.
when my laptop see the xoom it trys to install it but it fails and I get the following error message:
mz604 unable to install device a service installation section in this INF is invalid
I get the above error when the xoom is set as MTP
when I set it as a camera PTP I still see nothing nor can I push anything across to the xoom.

So two question how do I get the laptop to interface with the xoom and how do I get files on to and off of the SD card so i can see them while using the xoom

I am new here and i was wondering if i can update my tablet to ICS. My xoon is 4G LTE capable but i am only using it with WiFi. Is it possible? If so, is there some tutorial that could guide me to get the upgrade?
