doesn't 'rooting' it void the warranty though? I'm jsut skeptical (scared) to do this, since I have a 3 yr warranty on it....lol

Yes, but you can always unroot and relock.

Possibly, but only as long as an error or problem doesn't preclude that from being accomplished... ;-)

Did you try the resetting of Media Storage data, described elsewhere, followed by another reboot and then allowing time for the Xoom to rescan?

If you do a full factory reset, you won't lose any pictures if you back them up first. Just use the USB cable to copy them to your PC, or store them on the external card, or in DropBox. Lots of options.

I see that the mods have cleaned up your rather coarse post, you might do better to curb your 'street talk' or save it for the locker room...

As for your questions on technology, if you want it dumb and simple, time to move to the iPad, if you want to stay on Android you should spend less time ranting and more learning about the device you bought, that path will reward you with a much better experience and less angst!

Remember you can't be upset with the Xoom if it does exactly what it was designed to do and you loose data because you didn't take the time to understand what you are doing.

I see Chris has made some valuable suggestions...
