    Exclamation ics 4.0.4 Help!

I rooted my xoom using the universal root method. About a month later I see that there is a software update for 4.0.4 so I download and beginstallation. It reboots and begins to install then it stops and has a white triangle with a yellow exclamation point inside over a little green android and is stuck there. I rebooted holding the power and volume up button and tried the update again but gets stuck again. Help please?

You should never accept OTA update while rooted.

Did you install a custom recovery?

If so, reboot, wait 3 seconds at M logo, then push volume down. Scroll with volume down and look for Android recovery, then volume up.

You can wipe your device from within recovery or flash a custom rom.

As you've already heard, if you're rooted you can't accept an OTA under any circumstance. If you can get to either your custom recovery or the stock recovery, wipe your cache partition and you should be good to go.

Maybe the custom rom pages should have a big warning about not accepting ota's once rooted. Seems to be missed by quite a few people lately.

My thoughts exactly! I know there are some ardent supporters of the Root process on this form, they constantly suggest this as the path to follow whenever anybody asks about an upgrade to ICS, IMHO they should exercise a little more restraint and provide a more balance view of rooting, it is NOT for everybody!

There are many of us out there running ICS on non US WiFi only Xoom, a much preferable situation than that of the OP of this thread..

To those "Root the Xoom" supporters, what do you think, a little more balanced appoach to all of this?
