Though it may be rather insignificant to some others may enjoy. I noticed on your notification pop up you're able to slide out notifications like previously used apps. Just hold and slide. You can eliminate one at a time or all at once using the x.

To remove all notifications in stock ICS, there is an X in the bottom right-hand corner of the expanded notification bar.
To remove all notifications in stock JB, there is a small icon with three staggered horizontal lines in the top right-hand corner of the expanded notification bar.
I don't know why either cannot be seen in the opening post's image.
