    Browser keeps crashing

Suddenly developed a problem with browser crashing. I mainly use Dolphin which has run perfectly for a year or so and occ stock browser. Both crashing constantly. Driving me mad. I have 2 Xooms. One is running Jelly Bean and the other on ICS. Same on both. Any suggestions?

How do you roll back to another version of the app?

    Many thanks
    Amelia

Hi actually I am having the exact same problem with the stock browser OG Xoom in ICS, been happening for a few days. Can't think what it can be and I have done a soft reboot.

stock android browser keeps having an exception that closes it and returns to desktop. i have been noticing this for the last few days. i suspect its a new malware possible JavaScript based Trojan infection for android, as of yet undetected by most antivirus apps. I suspect it may be JavaScript based, I cleared all cache and settings for browser, and disabled JavaScript. If the exceptions/force closes stop, then that's probably it.It won't be the first time for such malware on android, but for those not running a good antimalware app, you might end up with something slightly worse than a browser exception

    did some more investigation

this has been apparently been happening to other android devices for the last few months. same issues. some devs are reporting it is website java related (which explains the android browser exceptions) but disabling javascript in the browser doesnt resolve the issue.

im thinking it is malware of some sort. it may start off as java related but its corrupting something in android, and it is causing the exceptions but appears to be device and not website - i doubt all these different sites/apps are infected. somehow, the device gets infected, and perhaps the execution of whatever it is, causes the exception/browser closing to occur.

anyways, the only way to resolve the issue is a factory reset atm

i think i may have fixed the issue. i would rather not factory reset if not neccessary.

i will post back after a while with confirmation. i need to test it out

It seems to be working, I haven't had any more android browser exceptions/browser closings. Cazza, what about yours?

Click 'all' under settings>apps. (Close all browser windows first). Clear cache/data/and then disable, restart. This will wipe out all browser data including favorites. Once restarted, go back to settings, and re-enable browser. Then open browser, click settings and uncheck JavaScript from advanced tab. Close all browser windows. Since I did this, I have not had one browser exception, or browser close/crash.
