Help! Somehow lost Google Framework Service

Help!

I was trying to perform the trick of clearing Google Framework Services data to encourage an OS update. I must not have been paying attention and accidentally uninstalled it because I no longer can find it. Can anyone help me out? From what I understand I should be able to simply install the Google Services apk, but I can't find anything to make it work. Is this correct? And, if so, where can anyone point me in the direction where I can find the apk?

Welcome to the forum.

I don't understand how you could have uninstalled it unless you are rooted, but if you are rooted, just flash a gapps package.

If you aren't rooted, go to Settings->Apps, swipe across to "ALL" and scroll down until you can see it. My money says it's still there.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. Try a soft reboot, press and hold the power button and the volume up button together until the Xoom starts to reboot, then release them both. After it's rebooted look again.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried the power and volume up button several times after it happened with no success. I have to admit I have no idea how I got in this state. As far as I remember I was clearing the the data for the google framework and stopped the service. It then went away, and I can't see it in settings->apps->all. As far as I know I don't have root.

I also can't connect to Google Play and get "Server error Retry" each time I try.

I'm not sure exactly what to do next. I might end up trying to reflash the whole OS image, but I need to look around to figure out how to do that.

I think doing a factory reset within Settings would install a fresh copy of the OS without rooting.

I have done the same thing with my Galaxy Nexus. I lost my Google Service Framwork. Getting force close error for Play store. How to solve this ? Please help.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. This is a Xoom forum but have you tried a factory data reset?

Same thing happened to me I did the following to fix it... When in settings >applications > go to menu and select "reset app preferences" then you have to go back to apps and clear the cache on Google play services and Google play store.
