Until now it hasn't been possible to read NTFS usb volumes with the Xoom 2. Now that a rooting method exists, is there a way to make this possible ?
    Thanks.
I could be mistaken but I thought the filesystems were a part of the kernel? I remember compiling NTFS support into kernels when I used to use Linux... Kernel can't be touched because the bootloader is still locked.

    Thank you for the answer.
Anyone to confirm that this isn't possible yet ?

Ntfs is proprietary filesystem of Microsoft and not works by default with Linux. Needs a kernel mod too read ntfs. You can format your usb filesystem to a linux supported system like ext3 or ext4. If your a windows user there is a driver that add support to those filesystems .

Thank you for the answer and the suggestion. I have already tried ext filesystem but it doesn't work either, it seems my xoom 2 only recognizes FAT so far.

Newer linux systems have support thru ntfs-3g. I'm surprised (only slightly) that the Android kernels don't have it implemented, since they went with the usbbus onboard.

Side note and update to this thread.. now that you're rooted, you have options! Fastboot files are now available and an ICS leak is afoot. Join the dev rush. At this point, no idea is a bad idea unless you catch your tab on fire from frustration.

    Hi HussX,

Thank you for your answer. Do you (or anyone else) know if ICS allows reading and/or writing from/on NFTS USB drive ? Now that it's only a few more weeks away from us Xoom 2 users.

    Thanks.
