You do not and can not make a backup, which is what a nandroid is, all you r doing is coping a partition and making it a .img
    A) u need to be rooted are you?
    B) download and install any android terminal app.
    C) in terminal type
    Code:
    su
    Followed by enter
    Then
    Code:
    dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk1p12 of=/sdcard/recovery.img
Now let that run which should only be a few seconds then you will now have a file called recovery.img on the root of your sdcard, copy and upload for him to use

You must give me more details other than it dis not work.
What are the commands u sent via terminal or cmd prompt, and then the read out displayed.
Tell me exactly what u did and the commands u did to cause the failure, have u flashes any boot.imgs?
    Be as detailed as possible.
I can and have saved many of tabs from people flashing a recovery img to the device

I've not flashed any boot.img only CWM Recovery image for original XOOM and then image that Ben done for me in a post above.
at the moment tablet screen reads AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)
    0A.6B (sha-b13f845, 2011-11-17 16:40:56)
    eMMC Info: Size 16G
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0

To flash recovery.img I've run "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
I get someting something like sending OK Flash fail device response 0

Can't replicate this at the moment battery is low can't program
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot devices
    0149C7EC1201701C fastboot
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash recover
    y recovery.img
    sending 'recovery' (9216 KB)...
    FAILED (remote: Battery Low)
    finished. total time: 0.061s

I'll try again when battery has charged

OK, yo start let me say that your attempt to flash cwm does did not actually flash to your device, because of the lack of the moto sig, and now that u had a failed flash it boots straight to the failed screen.
Now with that said, if u can flash anything that succeeds you will be back to normal,
So one of two things happened. Either a moto used two different sigs on the 32 and 16 gig model, or you and ben were not on the same build.
With that info try to find someone with that same model including size. Try that, if fails then we know its not the sigs but the system build.

Edit to add: the reason I brought up the reason its booting to the failure screen, and that nothing actually flashed to your device is, if u can get a successful flash of anything u will be back to boot.
That said if u had made a backup of the boot.img u could flash that and get a successful flash and that would allow the tablet to boot normally too

    Thanks runandhide.
I spoke to Moto UK today they asked to send device in for repair doesn't look like they will charge this for this but I would imagine this will take couple weeks.

Anyone on a forum has MZ615 - 16 and wiling to run a recovery partition copy?
    Thanks
