    A Xoom 2 wishlist

I bought my Xoom 2 3G/Wifi for both pleasure and work. I do tech support for a number of schools so the possibility of business apps for remote access etc was a part of the choice. Now I know I will probably find a lot of this stuff by browsing/searching but any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. So here are the things I was hoping to achieve with my Xoom...

    1. Use it as a phone simply by putting my phone SIM in it. I DID research - the sites selling it advertise 'talk time' so it didn't occur to me to look specifically to see if the Xoom 2 wifi/3G would work as a phone. I've co-opted the wife's Defy and can tether it on BT so I have a workaround, but I was hoping to just use a BT headset and the Xoom.

    2. I need to remote access into Windows Domains. Not sure if the Dept will let me do it from an Android - on my PC they have a Citrix gateway system set up for Remote access - I'd LIKE to be able to use my Xoom to do it - any advice on issues?

    3. On advice from another member here I bought the WiFi File Explorer Pro - solves my issues about getting files from my Windows 7 PC's - except I have to go to the PC to do it. Does anyone know of a way to do sit on the Xoom and reach out to retrieve files across Wifi? Or is that an issue with MS proprietary NTFS system? Superbox worked on the Defy and the wife's new Galaxy Note.

    4. I've got a nice Kensington BT keyboard case for my Xoom - but also wouldn't mind having a car holder for use with GPS functions, but before laying out the money, that brings up an interesting question. I will be getting internet access via my Defy phone, but will the Xoom access GPS data directly? I'm a bit fuzzy at this point as I've only ever used GPS direct from an active phone so I am not sure how much of the data uses the 3G link.

    5. I don't seem to be able to move apps over to my 32GB MicroSD card. It shows up as available etc. and I tried using SuperBox Apps2SD app but all it offers is Stop and Uninstall. Do I need to uninstall the app then somehow reinstall it to the SD Card? So far the apps have been installed from Google Play and there is no choice about where to install them. Or is this some incompatibility between Superbox and my Xoom 2?

Thanks in advance for any assistance...

Best advice is to use an app like line 2

No try this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...itrix.Receiver Otherwise I use Splashtop Whiteboard requires streamer to be installed

Sorry to hear I use it but I know what you're saying try this? any better or not? https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...fifiletransfer

Your location is usually found on the data connection its much faster but not answering your question :s Hope somebody else can help

Some apps can't be moved to SD card others can! This gets the best rating hope it works https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....gphone.app2sd

You can't move apps2sd on the Xoom. Some app data and game data but not the app.

@GGrant - why is that? If it works on one Honeycomb device shouldn't it work on another? Is it because chunks of the OS are hard-coded in the chip or is there another reason? I'd have thought that all 3.2.2 devices would have similar functionality.

Would it make a difference if I root my Xoom or am I confused about what that will do for me?

Never been able to put apps on the sdcard on the Xoom. I'm rooted and running a custom rom, still no apps2sd. My HTC Sensation and Samsung S-II both are on Gingerbread and it's possible. You will have some major improvements with a rooted and custom rom on your Xoom but no apps2sd.

What Honeycomb device are you using that has apps2sd?

Hm... I don't know that I have seen a Honeycomb run Apps2SD - I thought the wife's Galaxy Note was but she says it was 2.x and updated almost straight off to ICS.

Is anyone working on unlocking the Xoom 2 or is it something that has to wait on Motorola?
