[How-To] MZ616 Debrand / Unroot / Update to ICS incl. root!

This How-To is designated to all people whom would like to:

    • update their Xoom 2 to ICS.
    • reset their Xoom 2 to Factory Defaults due to guarantee.
    • debrand their Xoom 2, e.g. Vodafone or Telstra Stock image.

Credit goes to kent_lkc who managed to get the fastboot files and shared it with the community.

Hint 1: After flash you'll have a fresh image of Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 (build version 77.128.12.MZ616.Retail.en.EU, no root!) Additionally, you'll loose all your personal data!

Hint 2: This How-To is only for Xoom 2 MZ616 (3G + WIFI)! Do NOT flash this file to MZ615 (WIFI only Xoom 2) as it will result in a softbrick!

The procedure has already been proven working with the following stock base images:

    Xoom 2 MZ616 with:

    • 0.268.6.MZ616.Retail.en.EU
    • 0.281.4.MZ616.Vodafone.en.EU
    • 0.281.4.MZ616.Retail.en.EU

Please let me know if the procedure has worked for you and which image version you had, so that I'm able to update this list continuously!

    Pre-requisites:

    Step 1:

Install RSD Lite and unzip 77.128.12.MZ616.Retail.en.EU update file into a folder.

    Step 2:

Enable USB Debugging in Settings -> Application -> Development!

Boot your Xoom 2 into Bootloader: Shut down Xoom 2, press and hold both VOL UP + VOL DOWN, then press Power button until bootloader shows up. To select use VOL DOWN, mark "AP Fastboot" and confirm with VOL UP.

    Step 3:

Start RSD Lite and connect Xoom 2 MZ616 with your computer. Then open the included XML file in the folder where you unzipped the update file. Under connected devices, choose your Xoom 2 and press Start. Happy flashing.

    Step 4:

Your device restarts two times. After that your Xoom 2 is now successfully on 77.128.12.MZ616.Retail.en.EU!

Hint 3: People which would like to unroot or debrand are finished now, every one else has to continue!

    Step 5:

    Re-Root your Xoom 2 using DroidRazrRoot404, just download this file: DroidRazrRoot404.zip (5,37 MB) - uploaded.to

    Step 6:

    • Unzip File and Enable:
      • USB Debugging
      • Unknown Sources
      • Allow Mock Locations
    • Connect Xoom 2 to your PC an start DroidRazrRoot404.bat file!

    DONE!

Hint 4: I assume no responsibility if you brick your device!

As the bootloader remains the same it should be possible
