Thanks Goldsworthy! I can count how many times we have returned a Padholdr on two hands. That is pretty impressive for a company that has been around a year and a half. If you want a real high end solution your best bet is to custom fit the Xoom in the dash, which costs hundred's of dollars, and isn't a simple fix to remove.
Our kits BOLT TO THE DASH they don't use a suction cup or an aluminum rod that bolts to a universal bolt.
If anyone on here is looking for a Padholdr Edge Series to try out in their car and post up pictures and reviews on this site we will give you a discount. We want to prove to the trash talkers on this forum that we stand behind our product, and when our product is installed properly it is the best on the market.
Im all for styling and what not but thisjust screams dangerous haha. The brightness all the way down probably still makes the whole inside of the car light up...how could you happily drive like that? Other then putting the audio jack in and using your music and maps what else could you use it for when driving? I mean your driving right? shouldnt you be watching the roadand not staring at a 10 inch glowing screen haha

I use the xoom for maps and as a wireless hot spot for my passengers when on a long trip they like staying entertained with their laptops. My wife likes watching 1st run movies when riding hundreds of miles with me driving. My xoom is plugged into my Ford Sync system, and provides surround sound for her movies and music on my Audiophile stereo. The brightness gets turned down and is no problem. The xoom is no different than using a Garmin Nav. unit. And the larger screen is much easier to view for maps and other local information when traveling than a small cell phone screen.

well.my biggest problem with it is that is ugly as h&!!. way too bulky and odly shaped. second is that it is grossly over priced, and the fact that their logo is like a sign across the front. whats with all the ugly bolts across the front? i have nothing good say about them. this is my honest opinion, and just my opinion.
I don't know about an "Edge Padholdr", I just seen the regular ones with the huge half bezel. My problem is with the huge half bezel, 8 screws and giant logo. The xoom is sleek. Putting it in a lop sided bezel doesn't look good. Not to mention the price tag.
I am getting ready to install my Xoom into my 2007 F250 truck, 2007 Chrysler 300 SRT & 91 Mercedes SEC. It's got to be removeable from car to car. I seen this thread and I am ordering one from the guy (http://forums.androidcentral.com/motorola-xoom/67247-car-dock-6.html) for $75. Now granted that thing is ugly but look at how much of it is exposed while the Xoom is in there AND it's got room for a dock for power and aux to go to stereo. Once I get it I am either going to anodize it black, powder coat it black or get some high end adhesive (sigh, a sticker, OK) to cover it.
I got rid of my double din navigation stereos out of all three cars and opted for a Pioneer single din with an aux/usb in the front and the only feature is bluetooth on the pioneer, it's all I need (plus the xoom). I am waiting for the Pioneer to arrive, then the install starts, hopefully this week.
What's good about the above mount is, it's not trying hard. Sure it's not a custom molded fiberglass deal, but it's not trying to be awesome like the padholdr. I own a machine shop and once I get this thing in hand I can see how it's made and improve on it and to be honest it doesn't look like it needs much (other then powdercoating).
No disrespect to Padholdr. You make a product that is functional, it's just not to my liking. I don't want anything else sticking out of my dash, either from the side or top. The aluminum thingy that I am installing may look like crap when the Xoom isn't in there, but I don't care too much about that. While it's in, it looks almost as good as a custom setup. Padholdr could have made their sleeve or holder a LOT thinner, it's not like it's holding a 20lb device that will get 5Gforce of acceleration (yeah my cars are fast but...). I've got a full machine shop at my disposal, just don't have the time to engineer something like this. It's worth $75 for me to have something that I can work with. I can change dimension, height, thickness, etc.
I'll do a full write up with a bunch of pics when I do my first of three installs. The F250 truck is getting the first treatment, I'm in it the most.
I was going to do the custom molded fiberglass thingy but they wanted $275 each and then had to hack my dash and, I don't like the idea of cutting up a dash to make something fit. Plus it's got to top load to get it into the dock which presented another problem.
(mods, if that link isn't allowed I am sorry. I am new to the forum and will play nice)
Padholdr, I can really improve your product. That's basically what I do but for aerospace and military applications (I'm a Boeing and Raytheon contractor). I take other designs and improve on them.

I velcro'd it to my dash when I drove from Houston to Vegas. Brightness all the way down was very good, not too bright at all. I used it several times before I made up my mind to mount it in my three cars.
Google navigation simply blows everything else out of the water. I had factory Ford nav in my truck, Eclipse nav in my SRT8 and Alpine in the benz (all top models, no junk) and nothing would come close to google maps. Traffic is amazing. Sattelite view gives you a much better idea then a yellow line.
I drive a diesel. On long trips you don't know exactly where a truckstop is going to be. Type in diesel, loves, flying J and it'll show you how far you've got to go.
While driving and looking for a nice hotel, you got google to give you ratings and pics. Restaurant? Tired of truck stop or fast food? Type in Italian or Chineese and badabing.
Check email.
Dashcommand or Torque gives you full info on your engine, tranny, engine load, trans temp, etc. Very useful on the road, not so much on a trip to get groceries but when driving a diesel truck with a 4000lb load of freshly machine landing gear assemblies, it's nice to know that your inake, exhaust and the load on your engine isn't about to take a crap.
A video chat with the kids to make sure they are home, doors are locked, dog is fed, baby isn't tied up in a corner.
Technically it's unsafe to do that stuff, but it depends on how you do it. Voice command makes it easy. An android mouse helps a lot too. A second person in the car is perfect. It's not like I text or read emails. I had an email reader on my ipad, haven't found one for the xoom yet. To me having this baby installed in the car is the only way to go. I do tons of driving and it's always a new place I'm delivering to. Most of the time the wife comes with me or my 16year old son and this thing is super useful on the road.
Sure my nav units did some of that stuff but if you want italian food, you got to make a choice by name. With the Xoom it's reviews, stars, photos, and it makes it easier. The old navs would find gas but never diesel.
We drove from Miami FL back home to Houston once. We're in the middle of nowhere and my tire is starting to wobble. We got out, and it's starting to separate. A regular nav would find tire places. My cell would get me numbers, but with the ipad (had the ipad at the time), I found a tire shop 20 miles away and he had the exact tire I needed for my truck. Yes a phone could do it but I like the bigger screen and speed plus I am a weirdo, I like doing things different.
I've already got a Logitech Android mouse. BUT! If I can find a BT touchpad like on a laptop. That will be super safe. I'd custom mount the touchpad into my armrest or center console and cover it with leather and a magnet to make it invisible. Just peel back the leather and BAM touchpad to double tap what I want done, voice acvitvation for opening/closing/sending email, etc.
Problem is finding a BT touchpad![]()
