I had been trying to get Amazon to send me the link to download the Appstore APK, but no matter how long I waited after entering my email address (or telephone number) I didn't get any notification.

So I scoured the "how to" and found the URL to download teh APK : http://amzn.to/getappstore

I haven't yet installed it, but I'll let everyone know how it goes.

The irony. Literally half a second after I posted this, I got the email from Amazon.

I always check my Pulse when I turn on my Xoom first thing in the morning, and saw that the notice was there. So, I downloaded from there.

In an effort to push Amazons new App Store they are giving away the new Angry Birds Rio. Simply go to Amazon, select the App, put in your e-mail address, and a link to the apps store will be sent. Once the app store is installed you can download Rio for Free!

Whew, what a fiasco to set up 1-click payments. I certainly didn't know that there was a difference between mobile settings and the 1-click normal settings.

One question, though. It asked for my mobile telephone number before it would let me turn it on. Not a big deal since I have an activated 3g Xoom that has a number assigned... but what do people enter in there when they have a device with no cellular service, or when the WiFi model comes out?

*Hits self on forehead* I can't believe that I forgot to bring my Xoom to work today... :-( Now I have to wait until 5:30 to download/play.
