Ignore the "manage apps" part and look under the section "All" then find "Google Play Store" and select it. Then clear the cache and then the data. Then go back and try again.

Maybe it could be important but you do not mention which ROM or version you are using, also whether you overclock.

There seems to be several methods to resolve certain market issues and so you might want to run through them to see which would work for you. Although I would not be happy when you write "freezes up whole Xoom".

After you've cleared the data and cache reboot your Xoom by pressing and holding the power button and the volume up button together until the Xoom starts to reboot, then release them both.

I had this problem a while ago, turned out to be because I was using SetDNS. Reverted back to normal DNS and voilą.

Thought I'd throw that out there just incase.

I had a similar problem and the clear cache/data solution worked.

    I had the same problem.
I solved it by rooting and flashing the Team Eos ICS!

Bit drastic...........but look what i've got now!

Came home and wanted to download the compass app, and.... Play was not logging in. Tried all that was said here:

    - deleted account
    - changed password
    - cleared cache / dalvik

    Nothing!

Now, after deleting account, I am not able to register one. when I try to add an account, it is not going past the logging in screen - stops with a error message that the server cannot be contacted or I do not have a data connection!

Hmm. Try resetting the password through a PC on Gmail.

Might have to do a factory reset. This will wipe the device though.

Bad! not sure what happened between yesterday and today - it was all fine then. not sure if a reset is worth for Play; maybe the next EOS release might fix this issue - fingers crossed. thanks Droid-Xer!
