app to map shared drives
Hi all - I have recently bought my xoom and loving it. Only one issue - i am unable to mount/map shared windows drives. I found this odd because i had an unrooted archos 101 internet tablet before the xoom and it was able to do this flawlessly running Froyo stock and no additional app needed so i just assumed this would be the case with the xoom on honeycomb.
What i want is to be able to do is access shares without the need to be copying files all the time and other applications can access these mapped/shared/mounted drives.
I have seen other dead threads on this site with the most recent being just under a year old but no solutions then. Just wondering if there has been any new developments/app that i can install now without rooting the device. Would like to keep the device as 'pure' as possible.
Thanks for any assistance.

You can use ES File Explorer or File Manager HD to see your shared drives.
Xoom Wifi - Stock ICS
64gb Sandisk Micro SDXC (2)
32gb Adata Micro SD (class 10 and 6)
No need for a cloud.

file manager hd looks nice and is very easy to use theres also es file explorer but wants crazy permissions and if rooted root explorer is a must have and custom roms will mount a drive without an app so theres many choices to access your stuff.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have been using both explorer hd and es...(prefer explorer hd)...However my challenge is that even though i have no problems accessing windows shared drives within the file manager apps i do have a problem outside of the apps. If i have pdf or movie files on the shared drive i have to copy them over to the xoom to read/watch them. When i am done with the files i tend to delete them and thus have to delete the viewed ones from the windows share and the xoom which can be a bit tedious. It would be great if i can map the drive and be able to access my files from various downloaded xoom apps and able to delete just once.
If i am not able to do this without rooting is this easily possible with some sync program that you can recommend?
thanks again

i dont know if this helps you but i just connected my friends android phone to the xoom and mounted it as a usb device i then went into root explorer clicked on the phone and played a song from the music folder in the phone on my xoom. when i unmounted the phone the folders dissappeared so no adding files to the xoom or deleting anything.
im rooted and have rom so im not sure if this will help you stock but the point is it does work exactly like you want it to now may i ask why you're against rooting?
