Absolutly everyone who tried Nova reported it's a lot snappier than any other Launcher on the market. I added 4 widgets on my launcher and still no lag, it's just 100% fluid !
A little trick : to have the best fluidity possible, I disabled the option which let the background image move when you change of icones page (sorry, I don't remember the exact name of this feature in the options menu).
It's all a matter of opinion, but IMHO Nova tops them all. I tried ADW (back during the $0.10 sale) and quickly ditched it--I did not care for it at all. Nova and Apex take the great ICS launcher and enhance them. It seems a tossup between them as they are quite similar; Nova hit first and that's what I went with--and now I'm invested in Prime.
AFAIK both Nova and Apex now can use ADW and GO icon sets.
In the end, try the free versions of both & stick with what works best for you.

i have apex launcher baked into the gummy rom on my nexus s 4g and not happy in landscape mode all my apps are 1/4 cut only way to make them look and fit right is grid lock and i cant switch roms now without possibly ruining the secured element chip so im stuck with it and with the new permissions required i dont want to update yet it keeps giving a notification to update at night so when i wake up my phones battery is almost dead!

I use Apex Launcher, I would use Nova because I think it more smooth but you can't lock it into memory so I've been getting a lot of redraws.

I was a user of the Apex Launcher but since trying out the Nova one I must admit that it does seem to be much smoother on my Xoom.
I was quite surprised as I had got used to that less that totally smooth action of any of the launchers I tried. On a fresh install of any ROM with my Xoom OC to 1400mhz and no widgets I would still experience less than perfect fluidity from any other launcher than the Nova one.
I dont think a day has gone by where this app didnt crash.
ADW users, is there a way to remove the bar at the top of the screen, or at least edit it so that all those icons arent there (the add wallpaper, search and edit icons). This is the only thing stopping me from using it. I hate the way it looks, takes up too much of the screen.

I found myself not really doing much with Apex, so went back to the stock launcher and it's more responsive. I might check out Nova's free edition though.
go launcher is cool.
