I can't seem to figure out why google can talk does not work between my Xoom in my mother's droid bionic. my buddy at work has a samsung nexus and it works well between my zoom and his phone. But when I'm talking to my mom on google chat via texting the video camera icon does not show up on her end and I don't get a video icon for her on my Xoom.

Is there a setting that I am missing. I know her phone is equipped with a front facing camera I don't know if I need to check something on her phone.

I appreciate any suggestions anyone has I would really like to have this is going to my mother and I can chat so she can see her granddaughter.

If you're trying to make calls with it it needs a app like GrooveIP. Works perfect if you're wifi only or not.

Thanks but just trying to do a video chat with her phone and my Xoom. I should be able to do this correct?

Yes you should. I've just used it, video wise, when the wife was out of town once and it worked fine.

I don't know if you use it or not, but Google plus does that very well with hangout.

Thanks for the link I will check it out. If there is a video chat enable option on her phone that would be the issue. I will take a look at her phone later this week.

Yea that is my next step. My parents aren't into this stuff so I have to ease them into it. I plan to buy them a webcam for their home computer and have them create Google+ accounts.

Turns out she has a Droid Charge, not the Bionic which is an even older phone. I am going to try some more stuff this weekend with her phone but I think I am just going to get them a Logitech web cam for their desktop and use Google+ hangout function.
