    Use xoom as external display

I have a windows operating system laptop and a motorola xoom.

All i want is when i have a customer at my office, to work on my laptop and give my client the xoom and he/she can watch what am i doing to my laptop. I tried iDisplay, but i have problem with high or low resolution and also as i realized, when i activate iDisplay then i cannot work on my laptop, just on xoom.

I need an app that i will work on computer and someone can watch on xoom (like an external monitor-projector)

    Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. There are several apps that you can use the Xoom as a monitor for your PC, I use Splashtop.

I think Splashtop has the same issue: you are working from the Xoom and not from the PC.

Edit: nevermind. It does work as the OP wishes. I am running it as I type. Either the PC or Xoom can be used and you see the desktop on both. Cool!

i use splashtop as well, but my pc (xp) cursor flickers like mad and renders it extremely difficult to use...
anyone experience this issue and perhaps find a remedy?

i use it all the time (splashtop remote desktop hd v1.9.9.8) I dont have cursor flicker issues. the new version of the desktop streamer v2.1.0.4 allows you to black out the pc when remoting, or leave it visable like an external monitor. it also includes bug fixes and improvements/features

check your version. the splashtop remote link above is not the hd version, and may be the problem if your running it on the Xoom. its using an older version of the apk

you might also have a slow connection if using it via lan/3g. so check your connection/speed. also check your pc, a less powerful machine (i.e., single core less than 1Ghz may be hard pressed, and cause it to struggle)

in my case, i use the hd versions as noted above on a pc with 4GB of ram, and 2.6 Ghz dual core processor. I have a 4g lte remote connection/and 3+ mbps home wireless network, and a typical A/N dual LAN connection with wireless router

    thanks for the info rive...
after some research though in the faq section i found this:

Why does the mouse cursor flicker in XP during a Splashtop connection session?

    Splashtop 2 Support
posted this on Jun 05 02:35

This is a limitation in Windows XP. Here we provide a work-around option:

    1. Please download the attachment [DisableForceCapBlt_XP.zip].
    2. Extract the zip file and execute [DisableForceCapBlt_XP.reg] (e.g. by double-clicking on it). This may trigger a system warning message; please agree to proceed.
    3. Connect to the Windows XP computer again from the Splashtop app.
    4. Check to see if the mouse cursor still flickers or not.
There is something we need to highlight here: This workaround may cause a limitation related to the Windows transparency effect. That is, for a Windows transparency-effect UI, it may not be shown on the tablet when you connect to your XP. This would be the trade-off. The mouse would hopefully no longer flicker, but the Windows transparency-effect UI would not carry over to the client display.

i'm sure that rive could probably answer that better than i as i have just recently started using the splashtop app but i will check that for you later today and report back if needed...
i use the vlc player on my pc and had some initial issues with gittery playback and flickering cursor (from pc) and found a remedy on the splashtop faq page (just a simple tweak in settings fixed these problems)...
my reaction is that it does have audio support, but it was late at night when i was setting this up.
have tried other rdp apps and much prefer splashtop.
