3g Xoom lacks one also. Program also uses the light sensor and accelerometer. Problem with the light sensor is I haven't found a good setting for it that doesn't trigger the screen shut off everytime I'm driving under and underpass. There is a popup before it shuts off that gives the option to ignore until next manual screen shutoff but it does not seem to function. What it really needs is a choice in the settings to disable while plugged in so people using it in a dock don't need to deal with it. Except for that little problem, it works pretty well. Took a little while before I started trusting it but at least with the portfolio case it works well. Should work fine on the wifi Xoom. As far as I know it has a light sensor also.

Edit: I didn't notice you where talking about another app. Having said that I checked it out on the Market and it would appear it can also use the light sensor but reading the comments, its not very reliable and a couple people said they couldn't get it to work with the Xoom.

The price has since been raised to $3.36, and I don't think that's a fair price given what it does. "Proximity Screen Off" works and is free, although you have to go into the adv. config. to switch to the light sensor, disable "disable in landscape" and enable "cover and hold to lock the screen" in order to achieve the desired effect on the Xoom .
