Apps not in market...but some here have loaded...

I have noticed several apps I use are missing from the market on my Xoom WiFi. At first I assumed this was because they were not Honeycomb compatible. Then I realized that some of you have loaded these apps....and there are plenty of apps that s#!% the bed with Honeycomb, cause the are not compatible...but still show in the market.

For instance...when I search for Launcher Pro....I find the Plus license and a bunch of themes...but no LP. Same with ADW...some of the themes show...but not the app.

There are others that are missing as well...like Bump. I think I saw a few others...but they are not coming to mind right now.

    Anyway...so 2 questions...

    1) do you guys have these apps show in market?

    2) those who installed LPP or ADW...assuming you did not download from market...did you just pull the app from your phone?

    Thanks,

I personally tend to surf the Android Market using my laptop instead of the Xoom. I find that there is no restrictions when using the laptop (and you don't have the annoying problem of always going back to the first app in the list when you decide to click on one to see what it is about). I found LPP that way (since I have already purchased the app for my phone), and told it to install to the Xoom.

If you go to www.launcherpro.com you can find the apk file for each version of LPP. They always attach the apk to each new posting. Then just side load it from your SDCard. As for other apps, the market is not perfect. There are lots of apps that I have on my phone that don't show up in the market place on my Xoom but this has to do with the developers deselecting what they are for (I think). The ones that do show that are not compatible, I would think, have everything checked. That's why they show. But I could be wrong on this.

We pull apps from our other android devices and use dropbox or email to get them on our xoom.

    Odd....

I tried that and the market had my Xoom greyed out...and says not compatible. How did you get that to work?

I just tried it again and you are correct, now it is greyed out.....weird. Oh well, like mentioned above there is always the home site for Launcher Pro (or dropbox).

OK....so I am not going crazy (or getting wacky market action)...looks like I will be sideloading.

Thank god for dropbox. never used it before a few weeks ago. Now I can't live without it..

Can I use root explorer to copy the app to the root my SD card then share that copy with myself via dropbox? or is there a better way.

You are right, I created professional application and I was not a tablet owner. As the emulator is not enough to validate correctly an application we normally choose to not activate the publication of app for Honeycomb. Fragmentation is really an Android problem (supporting so many different devices).
