New to xoom rooting, could use assistance.

hey guys, so ive been through a quick rooting process before but it was a one click version on my D1. used cwm for all my roms, got themes from all over. couldnt install kernals though, phone was locked. anyway, i am looking to root my xoom. i want to be able to tinker with it just like i did with my old droid. i noticed that the universal xoom root from xda is very popular. its been awhile since ive done any mods on phones so im in need of brushing up my skills. so the first step adb fastboot, im assuming its asked alot of how to set it up. and thats where i need assistance first of all. i plan on backing all of my stuff up to a buddies computer because this things memory is full and i still cant figure out why i cant write to the sdcard. so just figured id ask for some help on here to get set up for root, pretty new to the forum. any help/advice would be great. thanks for your time.

Welcome, first you need the Motorola drivers downloaded and installed, then adb set up and finally Universal Root.

When you typed adb devices, did it give you a string of numbers? If so, yes.

Yes, if you are using the universal root - download the root.img and place it on your sdcard. You will need to flash it after you fastboot the CWM recovery.

You fastboot the recovery image. You put the root.zip on your sdcard. Have you unlocked your device yet?

That's what you put on your sdcard, not the CWM image.
