    Awesome

quick question: is there a thread for using goo im manager. i downloaded the update for google apps, and tried to apply it using the manager, but it didn't seem to work. i'm sure i'm missing a step or two, but i don't want to be updating everyday... just to be on the "latest". was wondering though, for future stable builds, or for just the google apps .
Im not so sure about goo manager..hope someone can make a thread for it

Automatic flashing of the gapps through GooManager doesnt work which makes the working "one click" downloading of the latest gapps package useless as it is automatically saved into goomanager folder on internal memory and after rebooting into recovery mode (initialized by GooManager) nothing happens. Theoretically one could still manually finish the update process had there been the option to chose this goomanager folder from the recovery menu, but its possible to update packages only from sd card folders and the gapps.zip is located in the internal memory which is not accesible.

Hello - Old Android user, new xoomforums user. I have xoom 4g/ encrypted/ 32Gb SD card in the "external SD" slot? I am tired of waiting for the ICS update and want to root so I have read the forums but do not see anyone mentioning the encrypted units, although if they were upgraded to 4g I would assume that some of them were encrypted before being mailed out.

    1. Are there any steps I need to do with regards to the encrypted tablet prior to rooting?
    2. When the instructions mention External SD, are they referring to the internal slot parallel to the 4g SIM?
    3. There are a few versions of the instructions, which should I follow?

Sorry for the Noob type questions, I can't afford to mess this up, and I cant afford to wait any longer.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us.
    1. Not sure on the encryption, but when you unlock the bootloader your Xoom will be wiped.
    2. Yes, you'll need an external sdcard to root unless you get the , which can flash from internal storage.
    3. This is a good thread.

    Hi guys

Total newbie to this so bear with me...

I have just started following the process as the beginning of this thread to install CWM recovery and Flash ICS Custom Rom..... I am down to:

    In "Android Recovery",
    - wipe cache,
    - wipe factory data,
    - go to advance and wipe dalvik cache all within the recovery.

**** I am here, however I have no advance option, I have chosen 'wipe cache partition' and also 'wipe data/factory reset' but the only other options it gives me now are 'reboot system now' or 'apply update from USB drive' - HELP!!!!!

    Ta

Thanks for the quick reply I apparently have an MZ602, does this affect any of the instructions in posts 1-4?
Anyone have a feeling on the encrypted tablet?
After installing the "MotoHelper_2.1.40_Driver_5.5.0.exe" (and rebooting),referred to in post 1, I am getting errors about MTP not being found, is this something I should be concerned about? How do I fix it?

OK following post 1, did the following

    downaload and installed driver
    downloaded SDK_tools
    C:\SDK_tools>fastboot oem unlock
    **Device began to reboot**
before I see anything on the tablet I type the following.

    C:\SDK_tools>fastboot oem unlock
    < waiting for device >

*device screen has moto logo and starting Fastboot protocol support.*

its been a few minutes, nothing changing, could this have anything to do with the pin/encryption?

EDIT: Took a guess and wiped the tablet to remove encryption, that seems to get me going. I am proceeding.
EDIT2: no doubt, excrypted tablet is a no go, factory wipe before even begining.

Edit2: does Eos 2.0.0 not enable the 5Ghz wifi?

Thanks for all your help I appear to be rooted and running 4.0.4... now on to the much anticipated IPSEC vpn.....

Had company for i bit, keep us informed. Your Xoom would be wiped when unlocked anyway - no harm - no foul.

    Hail,

i just performed the upgrade from Eos 1.0.0 to Eos 2.0.0 with the advised version of Gapps, and can confirm that You tube needs to be manually downloaded from the marketplace. also the contacts link within the Gapps folder on the homescreen does not work [states that contacts are not downloaded] but the contacts icon that comes with ICS 4.0.4 [or put there by Eos 2.0.0] on the home screen does work.

the upgrade went very smoothly no problems at all, other than that.

    thanks for all the work
