Download your fav custom "ICS and Gapps" via PC (recommended). Transfer to external microsd card on your Xoom.

    - Boot your Xoom to recovery.
    - Full wipe (data, cache and dalvik)
    - Flash ICS and Gapps ( No reboot in between this flashing)
    - Reboot and enjoy

PS: I will go for Team EOS v2
Well - currently my xoom is downloading from the play store under build EOS Stable release 2 !!!!

Now to go and read what the custom rom will do for me

THANKS SO MUCH !!! - If I knew installing a custom rom was this easy - I would of been messing around so long ago !!!!

Could delete half the threads in the forums and just have this 1 !!!!

So, I been running rock solid now for a whole day :-) . Huge improvement in battery life and responsiveness!

Only question I have is in the settings under the EOS / system / performance I set the boost value to 1200 Max and left the min value at 216. Rebooted and yet temp&CPU says the CPU is only running @ 950 ?

I don't use the EOS settings, I use SetCpu and even after a reboot the settings don't change. There's also Antutu which is free you could try.

i got setcpu - jumped max up to 1408 / min set at 608. i am seeing the speeds of both min & max. should i set the min back down to the lowest setting? i am guessing this will have allot to do with battery life set up higher.

I run min at 216, the higher you OC the more battery you use.

I would love to try this but it is all VERY intimidating! For instance, external SD - is this a location other than the Xoom or are you referring to the SD card slot in the top of the Xoom??? I guess it's the "external" that is throwing me. And I guess that means I will need to buy an SD card before proceeding? All the things that need to be downloaded to install, do you download them all first and then do they need to be on the Xoom somewhere, on the SD card, on the PC??? And a lot of the terminology is confusing to me. I'm pretty computer literate, but not any on the programming side and I'm assuming that's where most of the terminology comes from - flashing, rom, flavors of ICS, etc.

I guess I'm much more of a rookie on these things than I first thought.

Yes that means an external sdcard, you don't need a large one for rooting. Should be able to find some economical one local. Astrix and I are around most of the time if you run into any problems.
