    Welcome to the forum
Great to have you with us

It was smooth process, I couldn't believe it. I mean, I'm a noobs (that's the term right? ) but I just followed your guide (Astrix, Ggrant,... thanks),
I feel proud of you and grant will feel the same.
    Thanks for using our guide

watched the video over and over again, (thanks Castorshells)..read lots of forum, memorized everything and voilaa...now I'm on ICS.
Yes...he one of our best member with his awesome video.

At first I wanted to Gedify my xoom, (also thanks Simon for the guide) but then heck why not root? haha.
    You choose a right move.

My husband is new to Android too, but knew a bit of Linux, so he's not worried about root things, But I got to say he's so mean, he let me root on my own and laughed at me when I was worried sick.
You have a very good and nice husband.
    Love him more

Anyway, now I can say to myself "welcome to the dark side" .
Congrats and you're in our awesome team!

so once again you guys are ace... thank you very much.
    We love you
    Thanks for your feedback

I think the answer to this is going to be no, but is there a way to gain super user access without going through the entire destructive root process? I'm happy with stock Android, but would like to be able to have RW access to certain system files, such as the camera sound OGG file.

No, and the root process isn't destructive.

I'm mobile now but if you didn't relock your bootloader you shouldn't be wiped. If you relocked then yes it will be wiped again.

After I finished the GED process, I didn't relock my device.

I was searching around here and Google yesterday trying to see if I could apply super user permissions without completely wiping my device, like the guides to get from stock to custom ROMs do, but I couldn't find an answer or process that covered what I'm trying to achieve.

    Flash recovery and root it.
It wont wipe cause no unlock process here.

So I still have to flash a custom recovery and then perform the step to apply root access via the custom recovery and this will not wipe anything from my Xoom?

    Sorry for so many questions!
