    Question

So I never got a chance to try rooting my tablet - work and classes got in the way. I'd like to try and start the new year by trying my hand at this again. I was trying to get all the files I needed, and some of the links above did not seem to be working for me. Can anyone help me with where to get all the files I need to go through the rooting process? I have a Motorola Xoom, running Android version 4.0.4 (though I'm not opposed to upgrading if there is a newer version out there). If it makes a difference I did get the 4g update on this tablet. Also, I have some games with a lot of time spent on them. I can redo everything after rooting, but does anyone know a good app or something I can use to back up the game data, to recover it after the rooting process? Any help on both items would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Can I use the TWRP recovery as opposed to the tiamat CWM?

I have been using the guide with great success with a number of Zoom units. It has never failed me. For step 2 - unlocking and installing a custom rom can I use the TWRP recovery as opposed to the tiamat recovery as originally posted? THanks!!

    GED first?

Long time Xoomer, haven't rooted in awhile and just have a quick question.

Just bought a used Xoom Wifi (currently on 4.0.3) for a friend and am looking to root and get Eos4 on it but was wondering being that it's a Canadian Xoom do I still need to ensure that a US Ged firmware is on it prior to proceeding with the rest of the steps?

    Thanks ~

No, as long as you root it and flash EOS 4 you don't need to flash the US firmware first, you just do that if you want to remain stock and recieve the US updates. Just make a backup before flashing EOS 4 in case you might need it.

Yes, as long as you're on ICS or below. Whole different root method for JB.

I followed the guide and everything went as it should but I don't have root access. Superuser has no apps and doesn't prompt.

    Help please.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. What Xoom do you have and did you flash the root zip in recovery?
