    I had a few what the hell am i doing moments, but i'm pretty paranoid anyway, it's pretty much just install the android sdk, usb drivers, copy some files from one folder to another, copy and paste the commands in, and it's done.

    Got my xoom (wifi) today and rooted it in 10 minutes very simple.

    Does this wipe everything? And will I be able to overclock or would I need a different kernel?

    Yes unlocking and rooting will wipe your memory and you need an overclocked kernel. Move your files to your pc prior to rooting.

    Worked for me and I'm xooming at 1.5ghz.... scored 2990 in quadrant but we'll see how it affects battery life after a couple days...

    It hasn't noticeably affected my batery life at all. At least not yet. So much faster, definitely worth it.
