Can't see my USB Thumb drive

I'm now at last rooted and have the 3.1 patch installed, but i'm having trouble getting my thumb drive working. I'm using estrongs file manager (Root Explorer kept FC on me) to browse to the USBOTG folder but when I locate it I can't see any of the files in my 16GB Sony USB drive, which is connected using a USB host cable I purchased off of ebay. Barring rooting and installing the 3.1 patch I haven't done anything else and I'm not sure if I need to to get it working?

    Any help appreciated.

you have to install one of the custom kernels or the Tiamat Rom.

Does the flash drive have its own partitions?

No it doesn't have any partitions, plus I tried it with another USB thumbdrive (a 1gb) one and it couldn't detect this either.

Thanks Superbike, does the Launchpad 1.1.0 support USB drives?

Yes, both Tiamat and Launchpad now support external USB.

I am having the same issues. I have the latest Tiamat Kernel and Rom with 3G fix. I have an actual Motorola Host cable that was made for Xoom and distributed by Best Buy. I open USBOTG and it shows "0" files when I look at a thumb drive. I haven't yet tried an external hard drive. Any thoughts or help appreciated.

I just tried an external drive...No joy...When I plug the drive into the OTG cable, the drive lights up and the data light blinks. But when I open it in Root Explorer or ES, it shows no files. I refreshed and same thing. Rebooted while drive plugged in.....Same thing.

Yeah, where the contents show up all depends how the drive has been mounted. Also, you may or may not have to do a fresh format of the thumb drive. I didn't have to format my 16GB HP FAT32 thumb drive, but I did have to format a no-name 4GB I had laying around.
