Do you both have the Xoom drivers downloaded and installed.
USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA
and the androoid sdk set up correctly.
Setting up ADB on Windows 7 64 bit (and other Windows platforms)
If so, you might try the Rogue recovery. You'll need to extract the image from the zip and fastboot it.
    Fastboot Install

    1) Download the recovery.img from the link below
    2) Put the img in the path you run commands from in adb (ex. platform-tools)
    3) Using ADB command the following:

    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    fastboot reboot

    Hi ^^''''

I was tryin' to root mine (followin another guide), I moved to this one, and I had the same trouble as people above, i managed thou to install the clockworkmode (from xoom internal memory). It turns out I was having errors priorlly due my sd being not read by xoom.

What follows now is that, i'm lost and stuck to clockwork, I think my install of android got somehow messed up in the journey to root -,-.

Any tips bout what can i do now?

Have you tried to format the SD card using the Xoom or computer? That has helped some people resolve their issue of the device not reading it.

To figure out your plan of attack, we need to find out where you stand.
    1) you have ClockWorkMod recovery installed
    2) you can boot into CWM recovery, correct? So it's working ok?
    3) do you have ADB installed? And if so, did you copy the platform_tools folder (and all it's contents) over to the tools folder?
    4) do you have the universal root file downloaded to the (working) SD Card?
    5) Do you know how to change the path in cmd window to the C:/SDK_tools to push files from that folder?
    6) General location & version of Xoom in case we need to do something location specific

    Thank you!
Managed to solve the situation, at last, when despair stoped being my companion. ^^
(I just still find very curious that my microsd that is working 100% flawless, is not even recognized by xoom... sounds like a prank >_>)

    Thank you

Once you are rooted you can flash any kernel that is compatible with your OS. When I first rooted I ran stock with an OC'ed kernel until the Roms started coming out.
