    Solarnz,

First, thank you for the straight-forward rooting procedure; the vendors hate you; we love you! I received a Xoom for Xmas and am reading up on rooting protocol. I rooted my original Droid some time ago and have enough experience to be dangerous. My objective is to end up with a completely stock root. I would appreciate if you would share, exactly, what is included in the, "Xoom-Universal-Root.zip" file.

    Thanks in advance!

Do you know someone with a PC? This would be the easiest way. I was also looking for instructions for this because I have a Mac Mini and a Win 7 laptop and I'm sure they are out there somewhere but it was much easier to just go to my laptop and do this. It took all of 15 minutes and you do not have to actually install anything (except maybe the Xoom USB drivers).

Easier than I thought it would be!!!

I just rooted my US WIFI Xoom in about 15 minutes using this Universal Root with no issues. There were only 2 things I noticed that weren't clear. Hopefully this will help someone out there.

The instructions tell you to download the recovery file:

    3. Flashing recovery
    1. Download this Recovery image.

But they don't tell you where to put the recovery file.

Anyone that knows a little bit should be able to figure out from this line: fastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img that it is not changing directories from where adb.exe is so the file should be added to the SDK_tools folder they dropped in the C drive. This may have been addressed on one of the many pages of posts about this but just in case I'm sure some newbie might appreciate this.

Also, after I ran fastboot oem unlock and unlocked the tablet, it rebooted on it's own and once it rebooted ADB no longer worked and would say "waiting for device" because debugging mode was turned off again so I had to go back in and turn it on.

I was not sure if I needed to run the next line, fastboot reboot since it already rebooted but I did it anyway. Maybe someone can clarify if this is necessary.

After this all went smooth. I spent more time reading and re-reading posts about doing this and looking for answers to questions I had about the process than actually doing the root. Thanks for the great info!!
