guys when i connect my xoom it brings up some installation wizard with name MTP i try to install it but it says it fails everytime is this the driver or not? thats the only thing that happens when i connect my xoom, i have skype if someone wants to help me there the name is Dre9512

Don't have that on mt Xoom or PC. Have you downloaded and installed the Motorola Xoom USB drivers to your PC?

Unlocking the bootloader is the first step in rooting. When you unlock the bootloader everything on your Xoom will be wiped so if you have pictures, music or movies on internal storage you'll need to transfer them to your PC or to your sdcard. If you already have an sdcard and pictures, music and movies are on it, the sdcard won't be touched and you're ready to start.
