Question Need to Factory reset with hard keys on FE mz505, nothing works

My son was playing with my tablet (yeah family edition eh?) he managed to change the password while goofing around and has no clue what it was now. he said he thought it was for a game.
I have tried every hard reset option I could find (hold power/vol down 3-5, release power flip toggle... tried power holding both, power holding dwn, up every option I could find)
    Nothing seems to work :-(

Is there a factory cable or something that can reset the device aside from the use of hard keys?

The only other option I know is with the external buttons.

    1. Power off the unit - if not already
    2. Hold down the volume down button and at the same time, press the power button and hold them both down for 3-5 sec.
    3. While still holding down the volume down button, release the power button and toggle the display lock slide a couple of times (next to the volume button).
    4. The display will now show - "Booting recovery kernel image" and then the Android Robot will be displayed and the unit is now in rebooting phase.
    5. Since this is a reset of the device, it is normal to see "Please wait for pre-load data", this process takes about 6-8 minutes.

I tried the power-vol.dwn toggle thing as well :-(
Guess there is no luck, anything with cables, like if I send it in for repair, won't they just use some kind of factory cable to re-load a ROM?

Power off, hold vol down and press power and let go (keep holding volume) and keep shifting the rotation lock and it resets.

Call Moto. They will tell you the steps you've already tried, then send you an envelope to return the xoom. Mines on its way there now, no charge.
