    Screen Scratched/Damaged - seeking advice

While at work yesterday I managed to trip over my own two feet and I watched as my tablet flew from my hands landing face down and against a wall. My heart immediately sank and I picked it up to survey the damage. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it wasn't good either...the back panel got slightly dislodged but I was able to pop that back in. The screen however managed to find a 2" curved scratch on the left side. Well fast forward to this morning and a second scratch appeared overnight. This one is a straight scratch from the top edge to bottom edge (also left side). Is that some type of stress fracture/scratch? Any advice on ways to repair or buff this out, or should I pony up the insurance deductible and replace it? Anybody have experience with asurion and swapping out a Xoom?

    Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

If you have the insurance, just exchange it. If you don't, I'm sorry.

A member had a similar thing happen yesterday, in the 2nd post are the instruction on how to disassemble your Xoom. If you don't have insurance you might look a replacing the screen yourself.

Awesome, thanks for the link. Shoulda' searched before I posted. I do have the insurance (I baby my stuff but accidents happen) so I can swap it out I believe... I wasn't sure if there were good options for self repair, but then again I may just damage it further.

yeah, i would suggest not going the DIY route unless you know whats going on in there. if you've got the insurance you may as well use it

Cool, thanks for the advice guys, I really do appreciate it! Guess my next call is to asurion and to see what this deductible is going to be... I'm rooted and rom'd, should I go back to stock?

if it were me and i were sending it in for insurance claim, i would put it back stock and be sure to get all your personal info off of it.
