    Verizon Wireless (at least who i pay for my crappy 3g service) has dropped the ball again. The promised upgrade for Sept ( for all of us anyways) isnt gonna happen-at least not with 4 days left in the month.

    It is only reported a handful of people have actually got the 4g lte upgrade to the Xoom 3g devices.

    I dont know about you, but i blame Verizon. Misleading/false and deceptive advertising

    When i called Verizon the other day and talked to a manager, I was told they had no clue when someone like me would be offered the upgrade, and in fact, they state they have nothing to do with the upgrade anymore. I was even told that there is no point to registering email for Xoom 4g lte upgrade notification on the Verizon Wireless site! What does that tell you?

    I wouldnt count on it anytime soon, and the Xoom 2 will probably be out in the next few months at least for Christmas


    I wonder whats happens to those early Xoom purchasers if a year elapses, and all warranty/upgrades/service is not an option unless paid for?



    If they string you along for 12 months, are you just SOL?

    I blame Motorola for not delivering on more than one front.

    For stock users the SD slot doesn't work properly either and still no 4g which is installed by Motorola.

    My next tab def wont be a moto one with this track record...

    Yeah but Verizon is the one making all the promises, it is their 4g lte radio, their branded Xoom devices, they are the ones charging us the money every month, they are the ones making empty promises, and they are the ones for the unlucky few whom are locked into a Verizon contract, that wont let you out of it.

    Verizon promised the upgrade this month, if you look at the email image attached in post #1, you will see that- that constitutes deceptive and unlawful advertising. They are quick to blame Motorola, but they need to take responsibility for their own actions.

    According to Forbes, the Xoom 4g lte is already being shipped/ released to Verizon for sale in stores, and here is what they have to say (notice the article date is 9/16, 10 days ago):

    the Xoom 4g has a download speed up to 30,000 kbps, compared to the Xoom 3g with 669 kbps

    Its all about money, its not cost effective to upgrade us Xoom 3g users, users like us ( that dont have political pull, or arent buying the devices in bulk quantities) just arent important in the scheme of things. We are very low priority, and just not that important, but if we start filing FCC complaints, that will change very fast i suspect.

    Well lets just hope the upgrade will happen soon for the people who want to send their xoom in..my I cant right now no 4g here...for the rest of the year....ics will have to hold me over

    If you look at verizon's 4g map, they are in the process of putting up tons of new lte towers everywhere. the new towers are only 4g ( cant be used for 3g service), and are scheduled to be running this year. Check out the "coming soon" 2011 4g lte towers on their website. i dont have 3g where i live, but two 4g towers are scheduled to go active 10 miles to the north, and 10 miles to the south of me. Right now i suffer with US Cellular tower connections, speeds slower than dial up, and i am tired of paying Verizon Wireless for it. Enough is enough already.

    I look at it this way, if Motorola would have waited to work out the bugs for 4g and tegra 2 it would have come out around the same time as the Galaxy 10.1 lte. So whats the alternative A. Another tablet thats 3g for these months I've had my Xoom except no upgrade to 4g ever or B. No tablet at all for the last several months. So regardless of how long its taking I wouldnt want the alternative. It would be nice to get that 4g upgrade but I really dont know how moto can pull it off in a timely matter.
