Angry Per moto - sd card is meant to be read only on the tablet!

Just got off phone w moto. Escalated the issue and was told that the only way to use the card for rw is USB to PC I was not a happy camper to say the least, since at purchase, it was represented that the card would simply be activated and would function like external cards on phones. I think everyone should make this an issue to both Verizon and moto as a serious misrepresentation.

For anyone who travels and wants to create external copies or backups or even to store docs on external media for safekeeping, you're SOL. I think it's a serious issue.

Personally, if I had known, I would have bought a different device.

    I'M TICKED OFF!

IF YOU ARE ANGRY, POST TO THE MOTO FORUMS. Maybe they'll do something about a fix. The devs hang out there.

Firstly, Motorola can't do anything about this for the US version of the Xoom as it is a Google Experience Device. The international versions of the Xoom got this ability with the 3.1 upgrade. Also, if you are willing to root the device write capability is available right now.

Not ready to root and lose warranty. If it's a Google issue how can we make it happen with them? I'm on a mission now. It's important to me.

Maybe it'll come with ICS although I doubt it. It seems that the individual app developers will have a way of implementing writing to the SD card however.

If you're asking me, yes but rarely use it. Why?

If you need warranty you have the ability to unroot and relock the Xoom.

    That is true as well.

It's a learning curve that I really can't tackle right now. Maybe after the upgrade and a funeral I have to attend at Arlington. Getting old I guess (67).

Thanks for the advice and info though. It would be nice to be able to use more of the capabilities of the os.

When you root do you set user accounts as well tp protect the access?
