    My Xoom got an Upgrade!

But the upgrade has nothing to do with 4LTE -- that just won't happen with my wifi only model.

No... instead, I came home from work to find a little package containing a Micro SDHC 32GB Class 10 that I ordered a couple days ago. I'm now running with 64 gigs baby!

I've got some plans with all that extra space and read/write access is no issue running stock 3.1 up here in Canada.

Now, the only other thing I am waiting on are the pair of OTG cables I ordered. This is a happy day indeed.

    I have a 32Gb card, the OTG cable with a 32Gb thumb drive = 96Gb.

I'll see your 96gbs and raise you 500gbs using my OTG cable and an external hard drive.
So, the Canadians get read/write on the onboard microsdcard or only through an adapter hooked up?

Hehe... heavy artillery there. Soon I'll have my cable.

I didn't know for sure till this evening but I can now confirm that we can read/write onboard. No adapter necessary in Canadian Stock 3.1 for this.

So you can copy say a song from your internal storage to the microSDcard loaded in the SDcard slot? I thought this was impossible without rooting.

To see if my class 10 was up to snuff, I copied a movie (and not just a song) from internal storage to the sdcard. Then I deleted it after playing it for 5 minutes or so. I created a new directories and have moved the various PDF books / manuals to the sdcard which is where I've decided to store my books.

Haven't had any issues and I've had no restrictions.

As to it being not possible without rooting ... my understanding was the implementation in the US was a bit limited probably due to it being recognized as a GEG. From what I've understood, other countries have similar unrestricted access to their SDCards. I was initially worried that Canada would get something closer to what the US got since the 3.1 update here was implemented after the SDCard implementation in the States. Thankfully they didn't go that route.

It looks like they did good even if it did take them forever.
