SD Card Read/Write Support under Android 3.2.2 on upgraded 4G LTE Xoom

After receiving my stock Xoom back from being upgraded to 4G LTE by Motorola, I received an OTA upgrade to version 3.2.2. Everything I have read in various forums indicates that 3.2.2 adds read/write support to the SD card. I have tried both a 8gb and a 16gb microSD cards, both formatted to Fat32, and while the Xoom will see the full capacity on the card and read any file from it, it will not allow me to write anything to it. I use Astro file manager, and receive an error that access is denied whenever I try to write to or delete from the external SD card.

Does anyone know whether the SD card read/write capability has actually been enable in 3.2.2 as indicated? And has anyone actually gotten it to work, and if so, did you have to do anything special?

well it seems that it depends on how you define it. From what i have read they have made so that if a developer wrote their software correctly it could write to the card. But it looks like no one has done this yet. So as a result the only way to write to the sd card is from your pc. There is a guy who posts on the motorola forum who is working on a app that will use the API correctly allowing you to write. Hope to hear more this weekend from him.

I am about to send my 3G verizon in for the free 4G lte upgrade.
At this time i have 3.2.1 and i CAN write to the external SD from within the xoom

Are you saying i will no longer have this feature until a fix of sorts comes?

if you are rooted you can write to the sd card using root explorer. this has always been the case no matter what version of honryvomb you are using.

In File Manager HD choose the LAN connection and scan for your device. Put in your settings. ES and Astro do this as well.

This SD write issue should be a sticky. Everyday someone starts a new topic about this.
