    Connection problem help!

    Hello everyone!
I was given a XOOM tablet for work and I'm having difficulty getting internet connection.
First let me say I'm NOT very computor savy but I do follow direction.
I was told that the tablet has it's own (phone) number and should connect just like one. I have a Droidx and have no problems connecting to the internet with it. My tech guy at work said "it probably comes from factory using WiFi", "you may have to go into setting and set up that way".
I've checked and clicked around in setting but nothing helps. Any advice would really be appreciated.
    Thank you!

Does your Xoom say Verizon any where around the bezel in the front and is the back black or brushed metal look?

Okay, it's a 3G/4G unit. If you go into the wireless option in the settings and there should be a "mobile networks" option to turn the radio on and off, I'm wifi only so not exactly sure. If you're near WiFi go to menu>settings>wireless & network>wifi.

Yeah for the 3g its the last option, Mobile Networks. You want the first box checked. You might have to go through an activation process.

    In Settings-
    In Wireless & Networks-
    Has 8 categories

    Airplane mode- box not checked
Wi-Fi (showing that its scanning) box is checked
    Wi-Fi settings
    Bluetooth- box checked
    Bluetooth settings
    Tethering & portable hotspot
    VPN settings
    Mobile networks

I don't see any radio on setting.
If I go into Wi-Fi settings the screen changes and shows
    Wi-Fi scanning (box checked)
    Network notifications (box checked)
    Wi-Fi disconnect policy
Then under that it shows all the people in my neighborhood but all with secured next to them.

uncheck the wifi box then hit the mobile networks button. Hit data enabled check box and that will turn on your 3g/4g mobile network. Do you know if you have a data plan?

unchecked the wifi box and hit mobile networks button (box was already checked). There is an activate button which i pressed (did this before) its says its activating (last 20 minutes now). When I did this before it lasted only a few minutes then nothing.
I'm pretty sure I have a data plan but not positive.
