    XOOM external sd card is, for now, read only. It will require a future firmware update or rooting to make it writeable. Well, I could understand why they lock up the internal memory for security reason, but I don't understand why they lock down the external card? It's an external card FCS! Make it wild open, make it 777 all the way to heaven if it were me. This is totally a software issue, I guess it's just some programmer was too lazy to add some mounting options for the external card. But anyway for now you can only read from the external card.

    The crashing of sync is caused by my google account, I guess my bookmark may be too big(or maybe I uploaded the bookmark from a fedora box?), after switching to a different account everything started working.
    There's an app from a member of our forum that allows you to wrote to a non rooted Xooms sdcard.

    Well, yes and no. No it doesn't recognized automatically, I have to do a manual mount. Here are all the steps starting from the big bang:
    1 yum install fuse-devel libid3tag-devel libmtp-devel libmad-devel
    2 download MTPfs Dual Elephants , compile and make install:
    ./configure; make; make install;
    3 vi /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
    Add following line:
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="22b8", MODE="0666"
    4 vi /etc/fuse.conf
    uncomment the last line "user_allow_other"
    5 Now reboot your fedora
    6 plug in your xoom after reboot
    7 go to a terminal and type:
    mtpfs <any directory as mounting point>

    BTW, I didn't come up with these, above are consolidated from two separate threads from two really smart guys.

    Thank you ggrant3876! You just cost me $1.49 hard earned money. But that app works well! Now all I need to do is write my own app to change the darn permission, put it on market and charge for only $1.48. In a few hundred years I will be rich.

    Thanks for the help! Love this forum.
