    Mini-HDMI to VGA??

Anyone know if such adapters are compatible with the Xoom. I'd really love to be able to drive presentations from my Xoom, but our projector only has VGA and SVideo input options. I see there are HDMI-VGA adapters, but not sure if it would work.

If anyone has the parts to test, that would be awesome .

Try a cable on eBay sure you could fine one or even an adapter .. note VGA doesn't carry sound so if your presentation has sound you need some speakers or something

And btw , mini HDMI is different from micro HDMI which you need for xoom

    Apologies. I meant micro HDMI.

Not too concerned about sound. Mainly looking to be able to drive PowerPoints from the Xoom instead of lugging my laptop around.

I just did a quick google search but can't find any cables for micro hdmi to vga. However I did find a micro hdmi male to HDMI female adapter and then a HDMI to vga cable.

    Micro HDMI Adapter

    HDMI to VGA cable

    Hope that helps.

No worries. Like dimitri said a micro HDMI to full sized HDMI, then a HDMI to VGA adapter should work

I guess my question revolves more around if the output will still work from the Xoom given the use of those adapters. I know the physical connections can be made, but I am concerned if the data will still traverse them properly. Not sure if there is something in the HDMI that tells the Xoom "I'm connected" that may not work once it's converted to VGA.

It should work, afterall to my knowledge the VGA and HDMI connectors have basically (minus the sound) the same pins but in a different shape , there is a VGA adapter for ipad also for that same purpose of hooking to monitors and projectors.

Surely someone here knows more than I do and can confirm it for you

Unforunately, I think the only way to get that answer is to try them. I would assume it should work in theory but have not tried this myself. But we all know what happens when you assume.

I would also assume that since they have a HDMI to VGA cable that it should work.

So I did some more digging and found that there is a thread on this exact question on the Moto site. That thread is here. But in that thread they recommended a device like this which will convert the HDMI signal to an analog vga signal. It seems that no matter what, you will need to get a powered converter to accomplish what you want.

There also seems to be a small rumor that Moto may have a cable come out to deal with this situation as well but not much info on it. Rumor came from a rep I guess.

    Hope this helps.
