Looking like a locked bootloader for the Xoom

Dunno how true it is and dunno if it makes a difference to most but I read a Tweet from P3Droid yesterday stating that all Motorola Xoom's will ship with locked bootloaders. P3Droid seems to always be in the know so I'd say there is a really good chance of this being true.

Not surprising. I believe Samsung wil also be selling devices with locked bootloaders as well. Hopefully we won't need to hack it too much to get to our liking.

I also saw the tweet from P3Droid when I was searching google yesterday trying to find out if anyone had discovered if the bootloader was locked. Someone else had responded to his tweet saying that they also have a source who's saying the bootloader is not encrypted.

So, I think we should just wait on an official word. Of course, we may have to wait for some hackers to actually get their hands on it to find out, but I'm taking anything I hear for now with a grain of salt.

That would be sweet if it was a "soft" lock and not the whole efuse self destruct with the X

Not an issue for me, considering I've had my original Droid, the most rootable root of them all, since just after its launch and still haven't felt the need to root. I may end up rooting the Droid, if I decided I need to tether to a tablet, but don't see that I'll really be needing to put custom roms or anything on the tablet itself.

Just as long as we can root and download root only apps from the market, I'll be happy. First one I want is "Ad-Free". Love having all the flash ads blocked in the browser with it set to always on. Also enjoy playing angry birds with no ads.
