    About to root.

Ok so I am seriously thinking about flashing my new wifi xoom. I'm uk based and would like to see what it can do with the eos wingray ics rom installed.

Couple of questions before i start this weekend (i have been through the forums to see if my questions are answered but would like a breakdown if possible):

P.S I am a newbie at flashing android.

1 - Does eos wingray = 'nightlies' (are one and the same)
2 - Seeing as I'm in the uk what problems does this rom mean for uk apps and streamers (will bbciplayer work through a browser for example?)
3 - Does the above rom now have any hangups...such as blutooth not working for example
4 - What happens when FOTA updates come (especially 4.0 in uk) - do i avoid all future updates or what (something to do with titanium?)

    Any feedback appreciated.

1 - You want the wingray for wifi model
2 - No problems with UK Apps or streamers bbci player works fine
    3 - I Haven't found any problems at all
4 - I wouldn't worry about updates for the UK the USA Guys are way in front
5 - you will have to root it first before you flash it but follow the posts on here you will be fine

I just rooted and flashed mine so definately not an expert but I would add that there are many cautions saying to absolutely do not do the OTA's after you root. it won't work correctly. I havent seen any OTA yet but apparently the only way to get rid of the notice to update may be to roll back to stock including relocking, do the ota then reflash restoring all your apps with titanium. or just ignore the update.

Cheers mate, im from the west riding (if you want to be old skool about it).

Ive sort of been questioning the xoot / root and flash / be patient for official ics. Take it you used the guides on here to root yours?

    Thanks for reply.

Just to let you know you do not need to root before you flash. It is not required at all. I have just bought my Xoom (uk 32GB Wi-Fi) and within an hour (made a cup of tea) I unlocked it, then installed CWM and then applied the latest nightly of EOS Wingray, along with GAPPS and all is well, after a bit of TLC from Astrix.

All custom ROM's that I'm aware of already come with SU built in and thus do not need to be rooted. If you was going to install an official ROM then root away.

In supporting Dibbles awesome input: You can flash Team EOS and there is the guide at post # 2 http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/team-eos/14894-rom-ics-team-eos-ics-1-0-0-a.html#post188174

Enjoy the flashing game with a cup of tea like Dibbles did

But dont spill the tea at your Xoom!
