    failed upgrade to 4.04

    USA wifi version running 4.03

I got the notification to upgrade to 4.04 and I downloaded it and hit the restart button as instructed. When it rebooted I got the little Android guy laying on his back with an exclamation point in a red triangle sticking out of his belly. After about 4 minutes of this the Xoom finally started up and when I checked I am still running version 4.03. I tried to check for updates several times but it wouldn't work.

So then, just for fun, I restarted while holding the volume up button. Everything booted normally but I was still running 4.03.

So I tried the trick I saw in this thread: How to force your xoom wifi only us version to update to android 4.0.4

And it did allow me to download the 4.04 update again but when I rebooted after the install the same thing happened. The little guy was on his back with the exclamation point in his belly and after it finally restarted I was back to 4.03 again.

    Any advice?

Are you rooted and running a custom ROM?

If you are, it will not update. You will have to go back to completely stock for it to work. Or you can wait for the developers to implement 4.0.4 into their ROMs, which I think they are almost there if not already. I know Peter Alfonso already has updated to 4.0.4

    GL!

I have noticed that after I dl 4.04 and reboot.... not only does the upgrade fail but my MAPS application is open every time. Still stuck..... I can dl the 4.04 upgrade but it fails to install when I restart. Xoom hangs up for maybe four minutes and then defaults back to 4.03.

    Running Stock.
Got the update today that update available.
Ran the update, it rebooted, and everything is still working just fine.

    Same issue, 4.0.4 update fails

Have a call into level 2 support at Motorola, said it would take 24-48 hours for them to respond. What is this, 80's tech. support all over again! What a shame, had I known there support was outsourced and sucked, I would have bought another tablet...

When the droid on his back comes up, press the power button and the up volume control. It displays a message someone might understand. If I'm reading it right its complaining about the update files signature not matching...

They initially wanted me to send it in so they could update it. I said "its brand new!" I'll take it back before I send it in for repair. How hard can it be to release fixes to end customers vs. pissing them off!

I am having the same issues that all the guys above.
The support asked me to send it to USA.
I do not live in USA.
I bought it in the site of Motorola.
I reseted it, I cleared the framework and nothing. Yet in 4.03.
Failed in the signature, exclamation mark etc.
    But it is brand new.

Is it safe to install a image to 4.04 or to install a path only?

I had to send my Xoom in to Moto TWICE to get it repaired. Problem is, I don't know if they actually repaired it or just upgraded it to 4.04 for me. I guess I will find out if it is repaired the next time it tries to upgrade.
