    No 3G/4G service

I've had my Xoom since March of 2011 and I've never had any issues connecting to 3G/4G until now. I get no connection whatsoever. I can connect to my home wireless network or any other wireless network. I usually use my Xoom at home, but as a test, I've taken my Xoom to my friend's house, to work, Starbucks and various other cities away from my house and it won't connect to 3G/4G service. My phone gets 3G/4G service with no problems, so it's not a network coverage issue.

I've reseated the 4G card to reset the connection, but that didn't work. Other than the card being bad or the internal part that the 4G card touches is bad, does anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong? I personally don't think it's the 4G card because I don't even get 3G service.

If I have to send this in to Motorola to get it fixed, is it worth it to pay for the repair and possible new parts out of pocket or should I be shopping for a new tablet?

    Thanks

I would start with verizon. If the sim card went bad they should be able to replace it. I tried taking out my sim card and without one 3/4g didnt work at all, even when setting the mode to cdma only. I think you can try to put the sim from the xoom in your phone to try but never tried that.

Try setting your mobile network to CDMA (3g) only, then power cycle the Xoom. My Xoom is going back to Motorola for the exact same problem. At first I did not notice that it affected my WiFi, but it does. Mine started this when I got the 3.2.6 update. I was promised an update on March 8th then again April 2, to fix this but now they want me to send it in. See the thread .....

I checked out the link you had in your post, but it didn't work. I set the network to CDMA only and restarted twice. It mentions that version 3.4.6 is causing issues, but I'm on 3.2.6. which you mentioned when you started having issues.

The last time my Xoom checked for an update was March 28, so it's been almost 3 weeks with no 3G/4G service. If you don't mind, can you let me know how much Motorola charges you? Cost will determine if I get it repaired or get a new tablet.

I just read on the motorola site about another person who had your exact symptoms. They eventually found that a program called Easy Battery Saver was the culprit. I think they also had the Easy Task Killer installed. They found it by doing a factory reset in prep of sending it back to Motorola and suddenly it worked on 4g no prob. The put that pgm back on and it quit. Could it be something like that for you?

It should have said 3.2.6, sorry for the mistake.

I don't have any battery saving or task killer apps installed on my Xoom. Thanks for the suggestions though.
