Google Calendar not syncing on EOS ICS 2.0.0

    Hi all,

For some reason I can't seem to get my Xoom Calendar to sync with my online Google calendar. So far I have deleted cache and data from the Calendar App and Calendar Storage with no luck and then I tried deleting the entire gmail account and re-adding it. It then syncs my contacts and gmail, but still not my calendar. Any sugestions?

    Thanks

Have you tried downloading and logging into a third party calendar? I find Business Calendar Free to be excellent.

It's working fine for me. Perhaps reflash gapps?

I had a similar problem earlier and solved it by doing a factory restore and reinstalling everything.

It was only after I did this that someone on XDA posted this.

I hope it helps you! If it does at least you won't need to reinstall everything.

Thanks eckka! I actually stumbled across the same thread last night and it DID work. Don't know what happened or how this occurred, just glad it worked and hope it doesn't happen again!

When I found I had problems with Sync I noticed that Calendar was not even an option under the Accounts and Sync tab of the settings. I guess over time something must get muddled and causes this to happen.

I'm glad you got it fixed.

You may also want to check your account syncs... I found out when I rooted my Xoom last night and put up ICS and gapps... Even when I setup my google account on it, gmail wasn't syncing automatically, I had to go into accounts and tell it to do so. Something must twig out on some of the gapps, even though you tell it to connect, it doesn't remember to default sync or ask to sync or not...

I know this is going to sound really stupid to those of you who understand this stuff, but I need a bit of assistance. I too can't get my calendar to Sync, even though all the settings on the Xoom are correct. It even tells me, in the Xoom Accounts area, that the calendar is syncing just fine. But the Astrid widget is still blank, and Astrid won't even recognize I have a Google calendar. Very odd.

I found the thread that said:
"Google gapps_fixer.zip.. Download, Flash in recovery, then reboot. Has Been touched upon in another thread, fixes the issue.."

But... I haven't the slightest idea what that means. I've downloaded the file gapps_fixer.zip to my desktop computer. Is that the wrong way/place to download it? I assume it needs to be on the xoom. If so, in what location? And once I have it downloaded to the right place, how do I get to this "Flash Recovery" mode, then how do I "Flash" it?

Thank you very much for this help.

Are you rooted? or running a stock system....have you knowingly for example changed the software yourself: [HOW] Rookie Rooting, Flashing And UnRooting Under One Roof

If not then you can't run zips/apks....as far as im aware. I had the same issue with my sync of calender to google account and gapps fixer did work but again you need to have root access to install apks.

Thank you for your response. No, I haven't to this point, changed anything. However, if I need to root, I think the easiest way will be to use the procedure and tool on this page:
Motorola Xoom All-in-One Tool for Rooting, Unlocking, Unbricking, and More
My only question regarding the instructions on that page is the reference to "Official firmware for your Motorola Xoom". Since I've never changed or modified anything, and the Xoom was just recently upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich by an "official" download, do I need to download and install "Official firmware"?

Once the Xoom is rooted, will I then be able to flash the gapps_fix zip file?

    Thanks
