I rooted because I just cannot leave my stuff stock. I've been tweaking my phones since I got my LG Dare, then my Droid and I just like playing with it too much to leave it alone. Sometimes, it comes from necessity, other times, it's for fun. My Galaxy Nexus almost required it as I felt I needed to flash some leaked radios to improve the signal.

Just do not feel obligated to root though. It just isn't for everyone.

I rooted mine because of all the wonderful custom modifications we can do!

+1 with Fish! All my devices are rooted!

    I did it because:
    * I don't want to have to wait six months to have the latest operating system.
    * I want to be able to back up my apps.
    * I want control over what apps are installed on my device.
    * I want to be able to tweak more settings.
    * I want control over what permissions apps have.
    * I want to be able to block adverts.
    * I want to overclock and make my xoom faster.
    * I want to be free!

I rooted mine because that's just what I do, seriously I like all the customization you can do to make it truly yours if it's rooted.

    Before i rooted AND FLASHED = 7/10

    After i rooted AND FLASHED = 9.8/10.....alright 10/10

Seriously its that good on custom software.

Try this from castorshells as well: Videos...

Ive not followed it myself (i used the links previously listed) but it may help you understand how it 'looks' whilst your doing it.

    Good luck.
