    Help buying Xoom

Right now I Transformer 101 and feel like a Xoom is a better tablet for me as long as I can get pretty close to an even trade for a Xoom. I also really hate Asus right now and will never buy one of their products again. So my questions are:

    1. Are the certain serial numbers or batches that I need to look for over others? I know on transformers it can make a big difference if you get a newer one or not.

    2. Has there been any official announcement on when the next Motorola tablet will come out?

    3. Here is what I'm thinking of buying, is it a fair price?

Thank you guys and let me know what your thoughts are about making the switch

That's a decent price for a new Motorola Xoom, but (I know you mentioned that you don't like Asus) you can get the new Asus Transformer Pad 300 for around that price

The newest Motorola tablet is the Xoom 2/Xyboard.

Xoom 2 has the Motoblur UI
    Xoom is pure stock

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. If you're into rooting and customization I'd go with the OG Xoom. I've seen a refurb at buy.com for $349.00, they run them every once in a while at woot.com for $299.99.

My problem with Asus is the way their updates have been going and the fact that they have had 6 tablets all within 12 months of each other. I'm just pretty pissed at Asus and don't want to wait for the next gen of tablets coming out with 5.0.

I know the Xoom 2 has a little faster processor but is there any other difference?

And as far as flashing and rooting I've never done it even though I own a Galaxy Nexus lol but this may be a really good place to start for me.

I think $380 is kinda high. Most of the "older", dual core tabs are running in the $300 range (Thrive, IdeaPad). I got one of the $300 refurbs at Woot and it looked new with 1 year Moto warranty. It's GED so already updated to ICS 4.0.4. 1saleaday.com, eBay daily deals, and Cowboom.com (BestBuy; get product grade 8 or better) are other good bets. I guess the $380 is OK if you don't want to wait and you want new. I didn't think you could get a Xoom2 in the US; I've seen the Xyboards at Verizon.

What country are you in? A lot of USA buyers have been getting shafted buying from Amazon resellers by getting the wrong Xoom edition country wise. Be sure you read many pages of reviews on Amazon before you commit. Just my friendly advice.

Looks like they are marketing Xoom 2 in Europe and Xyboard in US. Quite a few differences: thinner and lighter, no microSD card, water-proof coating (like RAZR phone), pen/stylus capable.

Still pretty pricey on Moto's website $499 (16 gb) and $599 (32 gb) for Wifi only. Can't believe they were asking $800 for Xoom when it came out.
