    Ripping DVD to mp4/whatever.....

    Hi,

I am looking to rip some DVDs to upload onto my Xoom but I have a question for you veteran Rippers out there.
I have a Dual Core AMD laptop (pretty old) with 4Gb RAM. CPU benchmarks at about 2000 or so, so it's not the best.
Whats the minumum needed to rip a DVD in reasonable time? How quickly can you guys rip a standard length DVD and what
    software are you using.

would appreciate your experiences on this.

    Cheers
    Ozz

I really don't pay attention to the time, just start it and leave. But on of our supporting members DVD Catalyst has some awesome software and he's around to answer any question you have about it or problems ripping a DVD.

definitely agree with ggrant on this one. dvd catalyst is a great product with really great support. the developer posts to this sight quite often and is responsive to all inquiries. it gets my vote for the way to do it.

Not much I can add, considering the other replies here (thank you )

Using the standard Xoom profile in DVD Catalyst 4, you should be able to convert faster than real time. On my older Core2Duo Dell laptop, it will run at about 2-3x realtime (45mins for a 2hour movie or so).

OK, so how do you like DVD Cat?

    You did get it already.

Sorry for being late if you were waiting for my endorsement. What else are you waiting for? You could be zipping well through your DVD collection by now.

All seriousness aside, excellent program, support, and programmer. Very responsive and ALWAYS improving his programs.

Be sure to check out Movie Gallery and the Streaming software also. Very complete package.

    Enjoy, Chris.
