SD card issues?

I just received a micro sd card. I have tested it in my laptop and works fine.
I have downloaded Astro File Manager, but every time I click to browse the external SD it says

New Directory
Directory does not exist. Create? [ OK CANCEL ]

I click OK and get and error: Error writing file


HELP!!! PLEASE!!

Have you downloaded and installed the Motorola USB drivers to your PC? Also the sdcard will need to be formatted to fat32.

Grant, no I haven't downloaded any drivers, I thought it would just work? LOL
The card is already FAT32 formatted.

Any idea what drivers I would need and where to get them, I'm a bit of a noob at this (like you hadn't guessed)

Just hit the link grant gave you on his post for the drivers.

Make sure it is FAT32 first.

The drivers shouldn't matter for the card would they?

Ok, I installed the motorola drivers onto my laptop.
I reformatted the SD card just to make sure. FAT32.
I copied a simple text file onto the card.
Put the card into my XOOM
Use Astro File Manager -> Manage My Files -> Select 'External SD Card'

I still get the same error about New Directory ?

EDIT: It's now working with File Manager and Astro just rebooted the xoom

Try File Manager HD and see if it works.

Astro (and some other file managers) doesn't seem to know where the real external sdcard lives.

When you first launch Astro, press UP so that you are in the /mnt directory.
You should see a number of directories, one of which will be sdcard (which is the internal memory) and another, external1, which is the external sdcard you are looking for.
While in /mnt, press and hold on external1 and you should be presented with an option to create a bookmark, which will appear in Astro's menu.
Select that bookmark and you'll be taken straight to your sdcard's contents.
