Any fear of leaving screen on while in dock?

I love being able to use my Xoom as an alarm/clock while its docked at bedside, but I'm fearful about leaving the screen on throughout the night if it might cause excess harm to the display. Am I being overly cautious about the whole thing or should I worry about burn in and overall reduction to screen life? Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light.

I've done it before but I'm not sure about long term. Yours does turn almost black with a blue clock after awhile right?

You can still put it to sleep though while its on the dock, your alarm will still function.

Yes it does turn mostly black with a blue time display that rotates. The dock buttons do stay static though. I'll probably just get into the habit of turning off the display when I go to bed, but my wife likes having the clock display at bedside at night

After 18 months of use my HTC Desire has suffered screen burn from the notification bar and the screen is off more than it's on. I imagine the Xoom will suffer the same fate eventually with the taskbar.

I use Virtual Button and even when docked the icon to activate it remains bright while the clock and nav bar fade after a minute. Over months of this in its dock I have never had an issue with burn in. My Xoom has never really been turned off in its year an a half life and the screen seems as good as day one.

Even my newer Galaxy Nexus has noticeable burn in that would concern me if left on for long periods on a static image. But not the Xoom.

I've been using mine as a nightstand clock / alarm clock since i got it near release. When i use mine it goes in to a type of screensaver clock mode where it dims and the clock changes location. My dock buttons don't show when it's in that screensaver type mode. It doesn't get hot or anything.

The thing with the HTC desire and the nexus one is that they had amoled screens which are known for burn in. The xoom has an LCD so it shouldn't suffer burn in. But I wouldn't want to leave the screen on for that long either way, better safe then sorry
